The Michael E. DeBakey, M.D. Excellence in Research Awards are given annually to Baylor College of Medicine faculty who have made the most significant published scientific contribution to clinical or basic biomedical research during the past three years (2023, 2022, 2021). The awards are funded by the DeBakey Medical Foundation.

Five (5) awardees receive a commemorative medallion and $10,000 fund to support their research. The award is not given as personal income and the Foundation wishes the funds to be used in furtherance of research. Awardees will be asked to attend a reception honoring their achievements and present a brief summary of the research for which they received the award. The ceremony and reception will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
